Working Offline With
Google Apps

One of the best and most prominent feature of the Google Apps for Education is the fact that it’s all online. This allows you to edit work, collaborate with others, and submit work from anywhere. The downside to everything being online is that you can’t access your files or do work on them when you can’t connect to the internet. However, what many people don’t know that there is a way to work on specific files when you know you’re going to be offline. The simple steps below will help you be able to work on your Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides files anywhere.
Step 1:
While still connected to the internet, go to the main page of the type of file that you want to access online. For example, if you wanted to make a Google Docs file avalible offline, you would go google.com/docs.

Step 2:

On this page, locate the file you want to work on offline, and click on the three vertical dots. This will open up a small menu.

Step 3:
At the bottom of this new menu, flip the switch labeled “Available Offline”. When you exit the menu, you should see a new check mark on the file that indicates it is now available offline. If you don’t see this, try hitting the switch again.

Step 4:
When ever you are leaving a place with wifi and you want to work on this file offline, open the file (it should still be available offline. If for some reason it isn’t, quickly repeat the above steps). Before you actually leave the area, disconnected from the wifi with your file open. You should see a small lightning bolt on the same line as your title that tells you the file is now in offline mode.

Any changes you make to it will be saved online automatically as soon as you reconnect.
Just make sure you keep the file open to make sure your work doesn't get lost!
