Sharing a File Through Google Apps

Whether you’ve done an assignment that has to be shown to a teacher, are starting a new group project, or are just want to show the work that you’ve done, it’s important to know how to share your google files with other people. When you share a file with other people, it allows them access to the file you created, and you are able to limit what they can do.

Types of Sharing:

• Can View: This allows users to see the file and its contents​
• Can Comment: This allows users to see the file, and make general comments on the whole document or specific comments on certain parts of the work that you can respond to
• Can Edit: This allows users to make comments as well as edit and make changes to the file

To Share:

1. Open the Google File that you want to share

   


     3. Enter the email of the person you want to share the file                with

​     2. In the top right corner, select the 'Share' button

     4. By clicking on ‘can edit’ you can change the type of access             this person will have (see above for what each type means)

Once you’re done with this, just select ‘Done’, and you’re all set!
Access should now be granted to whomever you shared your file with!
Users can find the file in the 'Shared' section of their Google Drive,
​and they should also receive an email linking to the file.
